Technical Accountant
About the job
Technical Compliance Accountant (Audit & Data Reconciliation Focus)
Location: North London / Hybrid
Type: [6-Month FTC → Potential Permanent]
Salary: Up to £50,000 pro-rata
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a newly created, business-critical role at a pivotal time for the organisation.
With two to three years of financial data spread across multiple legacy systems, spreadsheets, and SAP/BI platforms, the business requires a hands-on Technical Compliance Accountant to bring structure, accuracy, and audit-readiness to its financial records.
This is not a transformation or systems-implementation role. Instead, it’s about rolling up your sleeves, diving into complex datasets, and reconciling financial information across fragmented sources to support upcoming statutory audits and potential investor scrutiny.
Working closely with the Head of Audit & Compliance, you will play a key role in ensuring the business is fully prepared for audit and due diligence processes.
This role has strong potential to become permanent, offering an excellent opportunity to demonstrate impact within a growing group.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile, consolidate, and reconcile financial data across SAP, BI tools, legacy spreadsheets, and archived records (2–3 years)
- Investigate discrepancies across multiple data sources and resolve or escalate issues with a clear audit trail
- Produce clean, structured, and audit-ready financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Support audit and due diligence preparation, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility
- Work closely with the Head of Audit & Compliance to prioritise urgent, high-impact data requirements
- Assist with data migration and validation as new systems are introduced
- Deliver ad hoc financial data analysis for senior stakeholders with speed and precision
- Maintain high standards of data integrity and governance throughout all processes
- Proactively identify data quality issues and recommend improvements to ongoing data management
- Contribute to strengthening the overall compliance and audit readiness of the finance function
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a technical accounting, compliance, or audit-focused finance role
- Strong track record of handling, reconciling, and validating large, complex datasets
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modelling)
- Experience working with ERP/BI systems (SAP highly desirable)
- Exceptional attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial data
- Available immediately or on a short notice period
Desirable
- Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience in multi-site environments (hospitality, retail, or similar)
- Previous involvement in audit, due diligence, or investor-readiness projects
- Comfortable working with incomplete or “messy” datasets and bringing clarity to them
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to identify priorities without close supervision
Why Apply?
- High-impact role with direct exposure to senior leadership
- Opportunity to shape audit readiness during a critical growth phase
- Potential to secure a long-term position based on performance
- Work on complex, real-world financial data challenges
Please only apply if you have the relevant experience.
