Assistant Manager | High Volume Food-to-Go
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Assistant Manager to join a growing fast-casual restaurant business with sites across London.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a period of renewed focus on strengthening restaurant teams, improving operational standards and building a strong workplace culture.
As Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the General Manager to lead the restaurant, develop the team and deliver consistently high standards across service, food quality, operations and customer experience.
This is a hands-on management role, not one spent behind the counter. You will be comfortable working in the kitchen, supporting service and getting involved wherever the restaurant needs you.
What You'll Be Doing
· Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the restaurant.
· Take responsibility for the restaurant in the General Manager's absence.
· Lead and motivate the team during busy services.
· Be hands-on across both front and back of house, including working in the kitchen when required.
· Maintain high standards of food quality, preparation and service.
· Support stock management, ordering, stock takes and waste control.
· Coach and develop Team Members and Supervisors, helping build a strong internal talent pipeline.
· Ensure all health and safety, food safety and operational procedures are followed.
· Monitor service standards, speed of service and overall restaurant performance.
· Deliver an excellent customer experience and create a welcoming environment.
· Lead by example and get involved wherever needed.
· Work closely with the General Manager to improve standards and drive performance.
· Adapt to changing priorities as the business continues to develop.
The Person
We are looking for someone who understands what it takes to run a busy food operation and enjoys being actively involved in the day-to-day running of a restaurant.
You will ideally have previous Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager, Shift Manager or strong Supervisor experience within QSR, Grab & Go, fast casual, bakery/café, restaurant or food-to-go environments.
Most importantly, you will:
· Be a genuinely hands-on operator who is comfortable working in the kitchen.
· Have strong leadership skills and the confidence to run a shift independently.
· Understand the importance of food quality, preparation, speed and operational standards.
· Be comfortable working with KPIs, labour costs, stock and waste.
· Know how to coach and develop people rather than simply delegate.
· Be commercially aware and understand how a restaurant operates as a business.
· Be adaptable, resilient and comfortable working in a changing environment.
· Have a genuine passion for hospitality and customer service.
· Be confident engaging with customers and creating a welcoming experience.
· Bring energy, personality and enthusiasm to the restaurant every day.
